This is my ideal place for reading a book. With sunshine, a big flask of tea and a sea breeze. Unfortunately this isn’t possible all year round, so the sofa with a normal sized cup of tea will suffice. I have set my reading goal this year at 52 books, so roughly one a week. I include audio books in this too – a big time saver for busy mums. I recently discovered audible.co.uk, it’s fantastic!
I firmly believe that reading is important for personal and professional growth. If you aren’t in the habit of regular reading or think that you’re ‘not into it’, I challenge you to set yourself a reading goal, and stick to it for a while. Even 1 book a month, will be 12 throughout the year and you will be smarter because of it.
One thing we’ve discovered recently is that children ask a lot of questions, and it’s nice to be able to give good answers to those questions. This is my primary reason for reading so much! I don’t want to be that parent who responds with ‘google it’, or ‘look it up’ every time my child asks a question.
If you’re having trouble knowing where to begin, I’ve listed some of my amazon links to the books I read last year. I’ve split them into categories as follows.
As far as Fiction goes, my favourite writers in 2015 were Harlan Coban, Peter James and James Patterson. I must have read about 20 of their books – too many to list here.
P.S – If you know me in real life and want to borrow any of these books – please just ask! 🙂
(Sorry, I know that’s of no use to most readers)
