Simple Steps To Great Malteser Buns
Step 1– Line baking tray with greaseproof paper. Of course as luck would have it, when I went to the drawer to get the roll of greaseproof paper, there was none left! So I used two cake liners and it worked just fine!
Step 2 – Get all your ingredients out. Weigh everything so you have it to hand.
Step 3 – Crush biscuits. This can be done by putting the biscuits in a sandwich bags and bashing with a rolling pin (great fun!). Or if you have a food processor, which is what I used this time.
Step 4 – Crush half the maltesers, again this can be in a bag with the rolling pin or in food processor.
Step 5 – Melt butter and golden syrup together in a large bowl.
Step 6 – Add crushed biscuits and stir well to combine.
Step 7 – Melt milk chocolate, and add to the mixture.
Step 8 – Add crushed maltesers, mix well.
Step 9 – Put mixture into the baking tin a spread out evenly.
Step 10 – Press the remaining whole maltesers into the mixture.
Step 11 – Melt white chocolate and spread over the mixture, swirl it around a little and you’ll get a nice marble effect.
Step 12 – Put into the fridge for one hour. Then remove from fridge and cut into squares. Put back in the fridge for another hour.
The buns can now be removed from the tin and put into an airtight container. Store in the fridge.
