This week I tried something that I have to share, it was so simple and so cheap, but it worked a treat! I lost count of the number of people who walked past us shopping and said “thats such a good idea”.
- STEP ONE – Type out shopping list, one for each child.
- STEP TWO – Buy a clipboard for each child (mine were 69p from Home Bargains).
- STEP THREE – Attach a pencil to clipboard with some left-over christmas ribbon or string. If loose, strengthen with a bit of cellotape,
- STEP FOUR – Explain to each child that they are to help you find the items in the supermarket and tick off each item as it goes in the trolley. At the end, they need to check the list and make sure that nothing has been missed.
Even my two year old, who obviously can’t read, really enjoyed doing this. She just liked copying big sister. It was a perfect shopping trip. No arguing, no asking for random stuff that I didn’t need, no shouting “I need a pee-pee”, no tantrums.
